Shift the Gears is an independent motorsport platform dedicated to telling the stories of women across the racing world.
From riders and drivers to engineers, journalists, team personnel and those working behind the scenes, the focus is on the people, careers and experiences that too often receive only surface-level coverage.
Through interviews, features, race reports and original editorial work, Shift the Gears looks beyond simply putting women in the spotlight. It is about giving their stories the time, detail and seriousness they deserve, while creating a fuller picture of the women shaping motorsport today.
About the Editor
Shift the Gears is founded and edited by Alice Jukes, an Australian, London-based motorsport journalist working across motorcycle and single-seater racing. Alice primarily covers all levels of motorcycle racing and single-seater competition, from grassroots categories through to the premier classes.
She currently serves as MotoGP Editor at 529 Sports and works as an independent contractor on Formula 1’s F1 ACADEMY coverage, with additional work published by MotoMatters, Superbike News and SLICKS Magazine. Her journalism spans live race reporting, long-form features and interviews with riders, drivers, team personnel, journalists and other figures across international motorsport. She is particularly interested in emerging talent, career pathways and the stories that sit beyond the obvious race-weekend narrative.
While her background is predominantly in written journalism, Alice is increasingly looking towards presenting and broadcast work. She runs Shift the Gears alongside her professional journalism, overseeing its editorial direction and producing much of its original coverage.
